The Jethou Chapel is a masterpiece of vision and craftsmanship, brought to life from an empty plot of land on the remote island of Jethou. Designed and lead entirely by Matt de Garis, this project reflects his creative vision and determination.
The process presented unique logistical challenges, with materials needing to be transported from Guernsey, unloaded by boat, and carried up the steep, rugged landscape to the remote site location. Despite these obstacles, the result is a breath taking chapel that integrates with its surroundings beautifully, showcasing carefully selected materials and expert craftsmanship.
Every aspect of the chapel, from the foundation to the final architectural details, is a testament to Matt's skill and perseverance. This project has earned recognition for its architectural excellence and was awarded Winner of the Guernsey Property and Construction Design Award 2024 - Best Large Project.
